Ironwoman from Mangawhai Osteopathy
Soon to be Ironwoman from Mangawhai Osteopathy - ironwoman
Ironman. One of those words that is regarded with majestic awe.
A battering but epic 4km swim, followed by a long haul on the bike, 160km in fact. Eat, drink, pedal. Repeat. Next up: it's only a marathon, what’s another 42km of gruelling, mind blowing, intense discipline, your mind takes on a life of its own, but due to determination and a fantastic support team I made it!! 13 hours, 26 min. I had a brilliant day, have forgotten about all the pain already and I’m keen to do another. It is the most exhilarating thing I have ever done thus far and it’s going to take me a while to come down from my high.
A huge thanks to all my patients and colleagues who listened intently to every lesson I learnt. It's definitely made me more compassionate as a practitioner.

Riparian Planting Group
Get involved with planting and help keep the harbour clean.
The Riparian Planting Group is currently working on the Tara Rd/Moir St corner by the bridge. Twelve-hundred plants were put in last season, so volunteers at a recent weeding session were really pleased to see how well they were establishing. Next stage is more planting towards Tara Road with some waterway edge clearing assistance from the local Council as blackberry and kikuyu needs to be cleared first. Native plants suitable for the site have been sourced, but of course funding is an ongoing challenge. Volunteers are now a formal incorporated society, which helps when making grant applications, and they get together for working bees and a meeting every couple of months. The more helpers the better – riparian planting is a long term project, so start young! If you can help in any way with admin, supplying plants, weeding, planting or whatever, contact Jane 431 5828 or Alex 021 029 56791.
SeniorNet have Help Clinics on third Thursday of the month at the Learning Centre conference room at Milestone Cottages, Moir Point Road.
