wireless janHeads FM-

The Wireless 88.1FM is on the move up! – Wireless jan

Mark Perry, owner and operator of both Heads106.4FM and The Wireless FM, has been successful in obtaining a fully fledged commercial FM radio frequency in the recent government auction. This means The Wireless will change from the low power 88.1FM slot on the dial to a new position around February 2015, (depending on arrival of equipment).
Along with moving up the dial, there’ll be a hefty increase in power.....going from 1 watt to 100 watts!
Consequently, reception will be so much better in Mangawhai, and coverage will garner listeners in the lucrative 50 + age demographic from Marsden Cove to Pakiri, and all points in between.
We'll keep you informed on exactly where and when to tune in to the new frequency, but now you can “start spreading the news”.
Soon you will be able to enjoy the timeless music from yesteryear all the time, with very few commercials, everywhere in our region.
Contact Mark Perry for further information, via thewirelessfm@gmail.com or phone: 0274 983 486.

summer galaMangawhai Annual Summer Gala @ the Domain 02 January 2015

The Mangawhai Domain Committee runs the Mangawhai Annual Summer Gala with three main objectives; give the community a summer fun day, raise funds for the community-owned Domain and provide a venue for the commercial operators (mainly stallholders) to sell their goods and services. This event has now been running every year for about 40 years; evolving and changing to meet the needs and expectations of the community, and there are about 7000 participating each year.
It is a big event for Mangawhai and assists in getting our name widespread with many coming to Mangawhai mainly to attend the Gala. Many stallholders from afar tell us that it is a “must do” event on their “market” calendar / the best in Auckland and Northland, and for those few that do not return for whatever reason, there is always a list of those wanting to fill their spaces. Again the stallholder sites were fully booked by early December. Of course, the event is much more than a market, and we have the normal live music entertainment, a revised dog event, many games, the ever popular local wine areas, rides and slides, Quickfire Raffles, spot prizes, helicopter rides etc.
As far as MBDA is concerned, several local businesses have stalls at the event, many members are volunteers, and many would have been approached for and provided a donation for a Raffle or spot prize or some other support; to all of you special thanks from the Domain Committee.
The timing of the event of course coincides with the busiest period of the year when the capacity of Mangawhai is at its peak. We recognize that the traffic and parking at and near the Domain is stretched and request the patience of the wider and more specifically the business community. Our pricing policy encourages on-Domain parking, and there is a Traffic Management Plan in place for the day.
Many of the business community will be flat out at their own businesses as locals and tourists alike fill the Village and the Heads during the New Year period and especially Gala Day. For the others we encourage you to spend a couple of hours at the Gala. For everyone of you, we wish for a very successful start to 2015.
If you would like any more information, if you would like to support the event by a donation or by being a volunteer please ring John Dickie on 431 4873, or preferably Email to mangawhaigala@gmail.com. For  more information on the event visit  "https://sites.google.com/site/mangawhaidomain/home/gd" and associated  pages.

All of our Refuse Collections remain the same over the Christmas and New Years Period, even when falling on a Public Holiday except in Mangawhai where there is an extra Rubbish Collection for Thursdays from 15 December 2014 until end of February 2015.
Monday:                                    Rubbish and Recycling
Thursday:                                        Rubbish Only
Please ensure all rubbish bags are placed at the curbside by 8am on the morning of collection to avoid non-collection.
Kaipara Refuse and Kaurilands Skills Centre wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
