The Mangawhai Walking Weekend is a festival of events and glorious walks exploring our magical Mangawhai community. With 29 walks over two days, come walk with us to explore coastal, bush and rural walks, history and geology, art walks and so much more, even a special doggie walk!
Details of our 2016 walks are yet to be announced however be the first to find out by registering for updates on our website. Bookings can be made online from 1 December 2015.

We are looking forward to another weekend of fun and activity involving many members of our special community. Perhaps those reading this may have ideas to contribute to the programme. We are open to fundraising requests or maybe any advertising that could accompany the two mail-outs that we send. The Kindergarten is not joining us this year so there is a vacancy for a fundraising walk of your making.

Mangawhai has one classic walk; The Mangawhai Cliffs walk deemed to be one of the best in New Zealand. The views are glorious as they sweep from Coromandel to Bream Head in the north with the Hen and Chicken Islands, Great and Little Barrier Islands and the Mokohinaus stretched out in front across the sea.
As well as all the special walks there are some extras. The Troubadour Trail on the Friday is gaining in popularity as people realise what a really unique experience they can have. Walkers follow a short coastal estuary trail stopping several times en route to watch or listen to professional entertainers; a true delight on a summer’s afternoon.
Then there is the Food and Wine Festival, at the Olive Grove,Relax and dance with The Mermaids, a lively trio of beautiful women with dynamic voices and glamorous style. They will be performing a ‘super-fun’ classic and current repertoire, from 1950's rock n roll to 2012 techno, 1970s disco to R&B. In addition to the fabulous music there will be a delicious selection of local cuisine and award winning wines and beer for your enjoyment. The Mangawhai Food & Wine festival is a lively afternoon event so gather your friends and your dancing shoes and come along for some fun under the olive trees. The Olive Grove, Insley Street.
