First held in 2003, this exciting annual event continues to evolve and grow in popularity, attracting garden enthusiasts and visitors from Northland, Auckland and further afield.
All funds raised from this important community fundraiser are shared jointly between our local Plunket and Kindy groups, so please show your support for these two extremely important grass roots organisations.
A huge thanks must go to our local businesses for their invaluable support and contributions (donations, sponsorship and raffle prizes), without which the Mangawhai Garden Ramble would not exist.

The Surf Life Saving season at Mangawhai Heads begins at Labour Weekend and volunteer lifeguards will be on patrol during the weekend and public holidays until Easter 2018.
If you are interested in becoming a club member, or a lifeguard, or want to register your family for Junior Surf, email mangawhaisurfclub@xtra.co.nz
When swimming at an unpatrolled beach, we encourage beach-goers to adhere to a few simple rules. Be prepared, watch out for yourself and others, be aware of the dangers and know your limits.
- Always keep an eye on children in the water
- Get a friend to swim with you- never swim or surf alone
- Watch out for that rip… rips are calm patches of water that can sometimes have waves breaking to the side.
Rippled, discoloured or foamy water with debris can also mean there is a rip present.
Volunteer weekend patrols begin again at Labour Weekend in October.

Silly season coming up and the temptation to overimbibe?

The 2018 Northland Rescue Helicopter fundraising appeal is underway – with the aim of beating last year’s superb total of $200,000 in public donations.
This year the campaign focuses on people of all walks of life, from tourists and sports people, to farmers, forestry workers, water sport enthusiasts and those people who live in the rugged rural spaces of Northland. Those stories will be show-cased during the fundraising campaign at: www.facebook.com/northland.rescuehelicopter.com
